Understanding the Times: Are We in the Last Days? (Part 3)

Damascus Will Be Destroyed

The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it

shall be a ruinous heap. (Is. 17:1)

When do we first see Damascus in the Bible? It is in the first book of the Bible called Genesis:

And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus. (Gen. 14:15)

This is before Abram became Abraham, and in this verse it talks about Hobah which is on the left hand of Damascus. This shows that Damascus was already well known at the time. People boast about places like this; Damascus has been in existence for around 5,000 years, almost since the beginning. It is the oldest known city in the world still in existence today.

On 9/11;Those people who worked at the World Trade Center, if they knew it was going to be destroyed, how many of those people would be trying to find another job? If people knew this was going to happen, nobody would have been there. But, of course we didn’t know the Twin Towers were going to be destroyed.

Not so with Damascus. So why are people living there? The census for Damascus in 2009; at the time 1,711,000 people lived there. In 2019, the population was up to 2,392,000, and in 2020 it was up to 2,354,000! Come on! They either don’t read their Bible, or they don’t care and believe what it says. They trust in longevity; they think it’s always going to be around, so it would make a good place to live.

This is the reason I got into the brick layers union; I was looking for a job that would take care of my family, have a trade, something that wouldn’t be obsolete in the near future. I was looking for something that had been around awhile; a long while. Making bricks and laying bricks has been around for a LONG time. I trusted in the longevity; that’s why I got in it.

At the time, I thought ‘There’s no way they are ever going to replace men laying brick with machines.’ As it turns out, while I was in this brick laying work, they had machines that could lay a brick wall. At the time the machine could not do around windows and doors. It would not surprise me to find out they now could.

Anyways, this is just to show we trust in things that have been around for a long time. Things that don’t change. Isn’t it interesting that God has no beginning or end; he does not change.

For I am Yehovah, I change not,” Malachi 3:6

“Yehoshua the Messiahthe same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” Hebrews 13:8

It’s ironic that men don’t want to put their trust in him. He’s never been wrong; not once.

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. (Matt. 24:35)

Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.  (Prov. 30:5)

For ever, O Yehovah, thy word is settled in heaven. (Ps. 119:89)

Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds. out of the mouth of God. (Matt. 4:4)

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth (Jn. 17:17)

I could go on and on. Why in the world would people leave God’s word, and trust in the vain philosophies of men? Because they love the lie, and hate the truth. The light of God’s word, exposes their darkness, and they love their darkness; they don’t want their evil deeds exposed.

God says Damascus will be destroyed. What is going on in Syria now? What are they trying to do? Syria is not on Israel’s side, they are Iran’s closest ally.

Syria is one of Israel’s principal immediate military threats. Syria’s primary military objective following Israel’s independence in 1948 had been the destruction of the Jewish State, however the IDF has defeated the Syrian army in every major military engagement since. Today, rather than use direct confrontations, Syria funds and arms terrorist organizations (primarily Hamas and Hezbollah) as proxies to attack Israel. Meanwhile, the Syrian regime of Bashar Assad continues to develop ballistic missile systems and weapons of mass destruction. http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Threats_to_Israel/Syria.html

Israel has said if they do what they say they are going to do, they will wipe them off the map. Israel may not be the one to destroy them, though. They may blow themselves up. God knows, I don’t know. But what I do know is that Damascus will be destroyed, because God’s Word says so. Things are heating up there and have been heating up for quite sometime.

I was trying to think of something that has been around and someday will not be, something that just everybody has been so used to. Something that has been around longer than Damascus is the sun. It has been around from the Creation of the earth, around 6,000yrs ago. (about 1,000yrs. before Damascus) It would seem strange to think of life without the sun, but we know this will be the case. Because God’s Word tells us that we won’t have need of the sun because he is the light.

And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for Yehovah God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.”(Rev. 22:5)

There will always be mockers. Many of these things back through history looked like they’d never happen, but many of them already have. Be sure, the rest of them will. God’s Word will stand, one way or the other it will come to pass.

True faith is when you know and believe what God says, no matter what the situation looks like. Because you know His Word and know it is true.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17

Messiah’s Return to Mt. Of Olives

Acts 1:9-12 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Yehoshua, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day’s journey.

(Matt 28:16-20) Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Yehoshua had appointed them. And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. And Yehoshua came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy: And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen (Lk. 24:50-53)

Then he brought me back the way of the gate of the outward sanctuary which looketh toward the east; and it was shut. Then said Yehovah unto me; This gate shall be shut, it shall not be opened, and no man shall enter in by it; because Yehovah, the God of Israel, hath entered in by it, therefore it shall be shut. It is for the prince; the prince, he shall sit in it to eat bread before Yehovah; he shall enter by the way of the porch of that gate, and shall go out by the way of the same. Ezekiel 44:1-3

Behold, the day of Yehovah cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.

For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then shall Yehovah go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. Zech 14:1-4

When the Messiah returns, He will set his foot on the Mount of Olives, and He will come through the East Gate (Golden Gate) of Jerusalem. He will be showing that He is the rightful King, this will be part of proving who He is.

This East Gate has remained sealed since the walls were rebuilt by Suleiman the Magnificent in 1517. He commanded the walls to be rebuilt and “for some reason” commanded that the East Gate be sealed, fulfilling prophesy. It was foretold that this eastern gate would be sealed; which it is, to this very day.

It says people will flee like they did from the earthquake in Uzziah’s time. There also ‘just so happens’ to be a fault line right there in that Kidron Valley. I’m not saying God needs a fault line to split the earth, He is all powerful. It is just interesting that there is one there. When Messiah returns, and enters into the Eastern Gate this will split.
